Workshop on Data Analysis using R software and Research Methodology
Global Institute of Public Health (GIPH) Thiruvananthapuram announces the second workshop on Data Analysis using R software and Research Methodology scheduled from 27 to 31 of July 2015. This will be an intense hand on training in R software, combining principles ad practices of research methodology in public health and social science research
Objectives of the workshop
At the end of the workshop, the participant will develop understanding of
Ø Using R software for data analysis
Ø Data management in research
Ø Research designs and ethics of research
Ø Planning and executing health research including qualitative research
This is a unique opportunity to have hands-on-training in R Software and to be trained to interpret data with respect to varying study designs
Sessions
· Introduction to R statistical software packages
· Database creation, data entry and importing external databases
· Data manipulation and transformation
· Measuring diseases and health
· Descriptive and inferential Statistics using R software
· Test of Significance using R software
· Sampling methods and sample size determination
· Literature review
· Developing research questions
· Study designs including qualitative methods
· Ethics in research
